Diversity Rules in July!
July brings sunshine, fireworks, and a focus on National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month! While we take this time to address the unique challenges faced by minority communities, remember: mental health is essential for everyone.
Sunglow Counseling believes in fostering well-being for all. We offer resources and support regardless of race, ethnicity, or background.
Mental Health for All of Us
This month, let's raise awareness, eliminate stigma, and ensure access to quality mental healthcare for all. We all face struggles and hurdles in our lives, but those faced by minority groups on a daily, weekly, monthly basis might shock any walking a mile in their shoes. Remember to practice kindness to all - you don't know the circumstances of someone's life just by seeing them.
Happy Independence Day!
July 4th is a time for celebrating freedom and family. However, family gatherings can sometimes be stressful. Here are some tips to navigate the holiday while prioritizing your mental well-being:
Set boundaries:
Let family know what you're comfortable with. Speak up for yourself in situations that compromise that sense of security.
Focus on quality time:
Enjoy authentic conversations and shared activities over unrealistic expectations.
Practice self-care:
Relax and recharge by taking breaks when you need them. It’s always okay to excuse yourself and go for a walk, or even just a step to another room.
Communicate openly:
Express your needs and feelings in a healthy way - remember that those you are expressing to also deserve your compassion for their experience. If you are uncertain how to share, go back to Tip 3 to help clear your head.
Holiday Closings
Our offices will be closed for Independence Day weekend, July 3 to July 8.
Please contact your counselor directly to confirm appointments during these dates.
